Architecture of The Hamsun Centre

The world's most original building in honour of an author was dedicated to Knut Hamsun (1859-1952) and situated in his childhood home on Hamarøy. The building was designed by architect Steven Holl and has been awarded or nominated for many architecture prizes and distinctions. The building is perhaps the only one in the world with hair on the roof, and the architect's wife refers to it as "the hairy guy".

Join architect Steven Holl on a visit to the roof, with its spectacular views of Hamsun's landscape.
